PRESS RELEASE 24th January 2011

MUSLIM ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (UK & IRELAND) CONDEMNS KANO BOMB ATTACKS IN NIGERIA

The Muslim Association of Nigeria (UK & Ireland) strongly and unequivocally condemns the multiple bomb attacks that occurred in Kano on Friday 20th January 2012. The Association offers its sincere condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families. Such senseless attacks on innocent people, wherever they occur and by whoever perpetrated, are never justifiable within the true teachings of Islam and must be loudly and roundly condemned by all God-conscious individuals and groups.

We hereby emphasize specifically that Islam denounces such atrocities and promotes peaceful co-existence amongst humanity. All Muslims must therefore dis-associate themselves from such senseless destruction of life and property. The Association hopes that the Nigerian authorities, with the cooperation of all Nigerians, will be able to take appropriate domestic steps to bring an end to the recurrent bombings and other sectarian clashes in different parts of Nigeria and restore order, civility, peace and security all over the country.
